A relatively new form of bus transport around Peru is called Peru Hop, and it is the bus company that we strongly recommend. Highly rated on TripAdvisor, they focus on safety and security as well as bringing travellers to some of the hidden gems of Peru.
Established in October 2013 by 2 Irish men living in Peru, Peru Hop has quickly formed a reputation as being the best way to travel across Peru by bus. Their buses offer semi-cama (or half-bed) seats, flat screen TV´s, duvet blankets, clean toilets, and powerful air conditioning and heating systems. These modern buses are supported with at least 2 professional drivers and a bi-lingual local Peruvian assistant who helps passengers with anything they need.
Bus travel in Peru can be quite unsafe (as a quick google of bus accidents in Peru will prove) and so we strongly recommend that if you are going to travel across Peru by bus that you travel on Peru Hop. They operate routes from Lima to Cusco and Cusco to Lima (with Arequipa, Puno, Nasca, Huacachina and Paracas all optional stops). To find out more please visit the Peru Hop website.
