Day 1: Baños - Puyo - Rescue Centre for Animals - Waterfall - Hola Vida Reserve
The day will begin at 9:00 am when we meet at Imagine Ecuador’s tour office in Baños. From there, we’ll go by mini-bus to Puyo. Our first stop will be at an animal rescue centre, where you’ll see monkeys, ocelots and caimans. Upon arrival to the camp in the Hola Vida Reserve, you will have lunch. Then we will visit a beautiful waterfall, which is about two hours away from the cabins, in which you can swim and enjoy the serenity of the forest. The spectacular scenery will make this place a memorable one.
The return trip to the camp will take us through the jungle, and you’ll learn about the rainforest and its flora and fauna. Once back to the camp, if you don’t feel tired, you can go on a night walk with your guide to observe insects and frogs.
Accommodation: Hola Vida Reserve camp (basic cabins with a shared bathroom and bunk beds).
Day 2: Hola Vida Reserve - Quichua Community - Puyo River - Baños
After breakfast, there’ll be a visit to a viewpoint, from where you can enjoy an amazing view of the rainforest. Then we will continue our journey and visit a Quichua indigenous community, where you will learn how they make bracelets and necklaces. There’ll also be the opportunity to try playing the blowpipe, and even to paint your face with achiote - a natural paint. After that, we will go on a paddle canoe ride for 30 minutes on the Puyo River before returning to the cabins for lunch. Finally, we’ll head back to Baños, arriving around 4:00 or 5:00 pm.
