DETAILED DESCRIPTION

Day 1: Puerto de Orellana / Francisco de Orellana Airport - Coca - Yasuni National Park - Napo River - Yasuni Kichwa Ecolodge

The trip starts from the town of Coca, from where we’ll travel in comfortable ecological canoes, operated by outboard motors. The canoe trip down the river takes about two hours, and lunch will be provided for you. Throughout the ride you will see birds, such as herons, kingfishers, terns and other shore bird species, along with beautiful landscapes.

Arriving at Yasuní Kichwa Ecolodge, you will be warmly welcomed with a traditional drink and lunch. After, you will be taken to your cabins, situated amidst the teeming wilderness, on one of the most biologically diverse places on Earth. In the afternoon, there’ll be a short walk down to the banks of the Napo River to enjoy a beautiful sunset on the beaches and islands. Once you return to the lodge, you will have dinner and can have a rest for the remaining part of the evening.

Accommodation: Yasuni Kichwa Ecolodge (double room)

Day 2: Yasuni Kichwa Ecolodge - Interpretation Centre "Kuri Muyu" - Yasuni Kichwa Ecolodge

You’ll start the second day off with breakfast, and an early departure on board the boat. We’ll visit an amazing parrot clay lick that brings visitors face to face with approximately 11 species of parrots (including parrotlets and macaws) - depending on the seasons, weather conditions and general good fortune. We’ll end the morning with a visit to the Interpretation Centre “Kuri Muyu”, which is handled by the women of the community. Here, you’ll learn about the Kichwa culture, crafts, traditions, and the traditional use of natural resources directly by the people in the community.

We’ll return for lunch and take a break in the lodge. It will then be a one hour walk and climb up the 35m observation tower to see a variety of birds, howler monkeys, squirrel monkeys, toucans, parrots and sloths. After, we will return to the hotel in a motorized canoe for a traditional dinner.

Accommodation: Yasuni Kichwa Ecolodge (double room)

Day 3: Yasuni Kichwa Ecolodge - Mama Cuna Road - Añangu - Yasuni Kichwa Ecolodge

The day starts with a breakfast, before you head off to visit the different community projects. You’ll then receive a talk about the worldview of Kichwa, and their addition to medicine in the world. We’ll then go for a walk on the Mama Cuna road. This is an excellent opportunity to see more wildlife, ceiba trees, strangler, bamboo cane, vines and shrubs from Yasuní. We’ll return for lunch and rest at the lodge.

Once at the Añangu stream, you will board a small canoe and head down the river on a spectacular adventure through the forest, with opportunities to see nightlife (such as alligators) and to listen to the sounds of nature at its purest. Return to the hotel in motorized canoes for a traditional dinner.

Accommodation: Yasuni Kichwa Ecolodge (double room)

Day 4: Yasuni Kichwa Ecolodge - Coca - Puerto de Orellana / Francisco de Orellana Airport
