DETAILED DESCRIPTION

Medellín's climate is pleasant year-round. Nestled in an Andean mountain valley, Medellin has experienced tremendous social and urban transformation over the last decade. This lively metropolitan has an intriguing cultural dynamic, with cycling being the best way to explore the “City of Eternal Spring.”

Medellín Bike Tour visits the following sights throughout the heart of the city:

• Cerro el Volador
• Jardín Botánico
• Parque de los Deseos
• Iglesia San Juan Bosco
• Parque de La Luz
• Parque de los Pies Descalzos
• Plaza Mayor
• Cerro Nutibara/Pueblito Paisa

All bikes are brand new 29ers, Cross Country Hardtails. This means each bike has front suspension, but not rear suspension, and the size of the wheels is 29 inches. Although we’ll be riding through the city, Medellín is an urban jungle, and the safest way to go is on all-terrain equipment. Helmets, gloves, water bottles, and rain jackets are provided. We also use radios with optional headsets, to ensure that thorough communication and safety standards are in place.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
  1. How long does it last and how physically demanding is the tour?

The tour is about 20 kilometers (12 miles) and takes about 4 hours with many stops and a mid-point lunch break in the Botanical Gardens. Although most of the route is flat, there are two challenging climbs that are rewarded with fantastic views. However, Dan will adjust the tour if he senses that it would best to only do one climb. Regardless, you will not be rushed or pressured: it’s your tour experience, so we’ll progress at your pace and comfort level!

  2. What is required?

Please bring a copy of your passport (a photocopy on your phone is fine). This is very important, as your medical insurance coverage will depend on your ID verification.

  3. What do I need to bring?

In addition to bringing the passport and insurance form, be prepared to work up a sweat. You might be more comfortable in shorts and a t-shirt, and it's a good idea to wear closed-toe footwear, such as tennis shoes. Feel free to bring a compact camera, but make sure it can fit in your pocket, in a carrying case strapped to your waist, or in a backpack, so you can ride freely.

  4. What is the food situation?

There will several opportunities to stop for a snack, but it’s best to eat a good breakfast and wait until the end of the tour to eat a big meal.
