The aqueducts are a part of the many creations made by the pre-ican civilization in Nazca several thousand years ago. Touring the site will give you insight to the culture behind the construction and history of the area.

The ancient aqueducts of Nazca were built by the Nazca culture, some 2000 years ago. They used this system to collect water from underground water channels and from the Andes mountain, to bring life to the lowlands of Nazca, considered one the driest and arid deserts in the world. The aqueducts are considered one of the first hydraulic engineering systems built in the ancient world which enabled them to handle drought strategically and grow crops.
Nazca is very well known for its agricultural produce such as maize, beans, oranges, avocados, potatoes and cotton, all of which would not be possible without these aqueducts!

The meeting point will be at Mom´s Cafe, Calle Lima 168A. From there you will be taken to the aqueducts of Nazca. They are located a short drive from the city center of Nazca. You will cross some pickled pear, avocados and giant corn plantation and have a fantastic view of the mountains and dunes surrounding Nazca.

Our local guide will take you inside the aqueducts and you will see from close the clear crystal water still flowing through the channels! Also you will learn how the aqueducts were built and what material it is made from. As an addition from the aqueducts it is possible to see ancient geoglyphs of a feline animal. The aqueducts are surrounded by the famous HUARANGO tree. This tree is considered to be a holy tree by locals and by the ancient people of Nazca. Come and discover more why in this fascinating tour!

NO SHOWS & CANCELLATIONS: If you cancel the day prior to the tour before 6:00 pm (Lima time) or earlier a 10% administration fee will apply (+ the card fee). After this time there is a 100% no show or cancellation fee.
