DETAILED DESCRIPTION

The meeting point is at 9am at our office in Baños, where you will get changed and put your wetsuit on. You can leave your clothes and bags at the office. Then we will head to Rio Blanco, where the guides will explain the abseiling technique and give you safety instructions.

You will be able to practice several times on land before we enter the canyon, if you want. Before you can start rappelling down the waterfalls, you will have to walk up the hill for about 20 minutes, passing through impressive landscapes. After this walk, you will then rappel down the different waterfalls. Once you have reached the end of the canyon, you can change back into your clothes and return to Baños, where you will get a sandwich and a drink to round off your canyoning experience.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
  1. What is Canyoning?

Canyoning is an unforgettable outdoor experience. It is not just a water sport, it’s adventure, it’s nature, it’s fun! Navigate your way down steep canyons by abseiling and jumping waterfalls and cliffs, cascading down natural chutes, and swimming through crystal-clear pools. 80% of the time is spent in the water!

  2. Who can do Canyoning?

Everyone, except for children under 10 years old or adults over 60 years old, people with physical problems or disabilities, or pregnant women.

  3. Is it safe?

Yes! In fact, this kind of adventure tour is one of the safest, because we have a specific security strategy, supported by policies and procedures which are clearly defined and tested. In order to guarantee the highest operational standard, our highly qualified canyoning guides are experienced and well-grounded in the technical know-how. We provide top-of-the-line canyoning equipment (wet suit, helmet, harness, carabiners), and travel insurance. NOTE: This tour is not possible to operate if it heavily rains and the river is too high.

  4. Can I bring my camera / video camera?

A general rule of thumb is don't bring anything you would be devastated to lose. Video cameras and cameras will get wet, and most likely ruined. A good idea is a disposable waterproof camera. However, we offer pictures and videos in high definition with camera Pentax version V for free - you just need to bring a USB or SD card (4GB) to pick the photos and videos up after the tour!

  5. What kind of weather can we find in Baños?

This is a destination which experiences year-round sunshine. The average annual temperature is 25°C (75°F), with the warmest month being November, and the coolest being July. April is the wettest month, and February is the driest, although the rainy season runs from January through to December – these months can be hot, humid, and rainy.

  6. What time zone is used in Baños?

Local time in Baños is GMT -5, the same as on Ecuador's mainland.
