See the mummies buried in the Chauchilla Cemetery
Professional and bilingual guides will explain the traditions of the Nazca culture
Remember to get some handmade crafts and souvenirs made by the locals!
The most popular tour of Nazca is the Chauchilla Cemetery, found about 30 kilometres south of Nazca. The first 21 km is done on a paved road (Pan-American Highway), and the rest of the way is along unpaved road. Here in Peru we call it "trail". See the cemetery’s mummies, and learn about the ancient Nazca civilisation.

You’ll be picked up from your hotel/hostel and taken to the Chauchilla Cemetery. The interesting thing about this cemetery is that it is perhaps the only one in Peru that allows you to appreciate the mummies in their original tombs.
The mummies of Chauchilla cemetery are in a good state of preservation, despite their antiquity, and on many of them you can still see remains of hair and even some skin. You can also find remains of offerings, belongings and even some mummified animals.
A large part of the conservation has been made possible thanks to the dry and arid climate of the Nazca desert. Remember that it almost never rains in these lands.
The ancient settlers of Nazca also had the custom of burying their people in a fetal position, always facing towards the east, and buried with their possessions, possibly with some fantastic idea of their use in some near future, much like many civilizations that flourished in southern Peru.
Following the visit of the cemetery, you’ll go to the handcrafted ceramics workshops. The tour will end with drop off at your hotel/hostel in Nazca.
