This is an ideal excursion for those who want to experience the mountain in a different way.
The bike gives us the opportunity of enjoying this trip at your own rhythm, having more time to take in all the views and incredible landscapes.
Our tour starts when we meet at your hotel in the city of Salta. From there, we start to go up slowly towards Piedra del Molino along the Quebrada de Escoipes and the Cuesta del Obispo.
The landscape changes quickly, passing through very different places: when encountering the first mountain range, we will see a green montain forest that changes in only a few minutes into a colorful desert full of different types of cactus.
After approximately 2 hours of driving, we will reach the highest point of the road where we will begin our downhill mountain biking.
From the 3,457 meters above sea level we will undertake a vertiginous descent by bike. With three well-differentiated sections, two of pavement and one of gravel, the total route adds 45 kilometers of extension, in which we will descend almost 1,800 meters of hight!
This mountain bike is for all tastes: those who prefer to do it slowly and taking advantage of the panoramic points to take good photos and enjoy the best views can do so, and those who seek speed and live the adrenaline find in this route an unforgettable experience!!!
At the end of the mountain bike, we will take a break in a picturesque place to rest a little while enjoying a good picnic in the open air.
After lunch, we will drive back to the city of Salta, where we will conclude our adventure!

What time zone is used in Salta?
Local time in Salta is GMT -3, the same as on Argentina's mainland.
What kind of weather can we find in Salta?
Salta, located in a tropical area, has a warm climate year-round. However, there are quite marked variations in its different regions, due to the disparity in the terrain elevation. January is the hottest month in Salta, with an average temperature of 22°C (72°F), and the coldest month is June, at 12°C (54°F). September is the month with the most daily sunshine hours, at 11. The wettest month is January, with an average of 182mm of rain.
What should I bring to the tour?
You should bring a windbreaker or water proof jacket, sunscreen, a cap or hat, comfortable clothes and shoes suitable for biking, gloves for biking (it could be cold, so you will need something to protect your hands), and sunglasses. Don't forget to bring your camera, a bottle of water, and extra cash for your personal expenses.
Will I get problems with altitude sickness?
Altitude sickness is a real possibility here. If you are arriving directly from the coast, you may need up to a couple of days to acclimatize. Dizziness, shortness of breath, and headaches are common symptoms, but extended bouts of nausea and vomiting are not unheard of amongst those that have rushed their ascent. The locals swear by chewing coca leaves, and although they do relieve the symptoms, it may cause you to fail a drug test. Anyone not already fully acclimatized is advised to pick up some medicine (such as Dramamine) from the pharmacy in Salta before departure. You can also drink tea or coffee to help (but most importantly, drink water to stay hydrated).
