Our experienced dune buggy drivers do not only ensure that you will come back from your trip completely breathless, but that you will take home incredible memories. The trip starts by getting securely strapped in the back of one of our dune buggies, and riding to the top of the largest dunes in South America. A roller-coaster ride up and down the massive sand dunes ensues, along with endless screams of delight.

At the top of the high dunes, you will be able to sandboard down at an exhilarating pace, lying face down (recommended). Before heading back, take some time to enjoy the sun setting over the dunes. The rewarding view is incomparable, and definitely something you wouldn’t want to miss.

Note: New Years Day (31st December) & January 1st are the busiest time of the year in Huacachina. The oasis has huge crowds and ALL operators shorten their tour and increase their price. On this day the tour duration will be limited to one hour but the price will remain unaffected.

Cancellation or changes of this tour:

CHANGES: Any changes to the tour date need to be done before 6:00 pm the day before the tour begins.

NO SHOWS & CANCELLATIONS: If you cancel the day prior to the tour before 6:00 pm or earlier, a 10% administration fee will apply (+ the card fee). After this time, there is a 100% no show or cancellation fee.

1. Are pickups included?

   No. Huacachina is a tiny village with only a couple of streets. The meeting point for the tour is at Wild Rover Hostel; it is easily located in Huacachina.

2. Why are these the only two times for the tour?

   The sand can be too hot from the strong desert sun during the middle of the day. Taking the tour late afternoon enables you to catch stunning panoramic desert views at sunset. This is why these are the only times we offer this tour.

3. What should I bring to the tour?

   We recommend that you bring sunscreen, a hat, water, comfortable clothes, lightweight trousers (to protect the knees should you wish to go down belly first), and closed-toe shoes. Do not bring flip-flops. Sunglasses are really important, especially because they protect your eyes from the sand flying around on the buggy ride! If you don’t have a pair, buy some!

4. Can I drive the buggy myself?

   No, it is not possible to drive the buggies. All of the drivers are certified; you cannot drive a buggy through the dunes without certification and special permits. You will understand why once you complete the tour!

5. Are the buggies safe?

   Yes, our buggies are extremely safe. All seats have a seatbelt to ensure you are strapped in safely. Our drivers make sure you have a lot of fun, but will never take any risks.

6. Is sandboarding safe?

   Yes, as long as you don't do anything crazy! We recommend that you lie down on the boards, as standing up is quite hard!

7. Can I take my camera?

   Yes of course! You can store it in the buggy when you are sand boarding, but try to bring a case to avoid getting sand on your lens!
