DAY 1: SANTA MARTA - EL MAMEY - CAMP 1
The journey begins at Expotur’s office at 9:30am. You’ll be picked up by a 4x4 and taken to the town of Mamey, which is around a 2 ½ hour drive. You’ll enjoy lunch here before beginning the trek to the Lost City.
Today, you’ll walk for about 3 ½ hours to reach the first camp. Here, you can wander around and discover the beautiful surroundings, with rivers, natural pools and waterfalls. Spend some time relaxing before having dinner and sleeping in your hammock.
DAY 2: CAMP 1 - CAMP 3
Wake up to a delicious breakfast before starting the day’s trek, which will take you alongside the river of Buritaca. Look out for the Kogui indigenous village called Mutanshi. You’ll be walking around 7 hours today, and will go through the jungle of the Sierra Nevada of Santa Marta – here you can take in your surroundings and appreciate the biodiversity as you trek.
Work up your appetite for a delicious dinner, which you’ll enjoy at the third camp. Here you’ll have hammocks, beds, and tents, so get some rest after an adventurous day.
DAY 3: LOST CITY - CAMP 2
After an early breakfast, the uphill climb will begin: there are 1,200 steps to be ascended in order to reach the beautiful Lost City, a trail constructed by Tayrona people. Upon arrival to the sacred site, you’ll be shown around be the guide: be amazed by the ancient relics, and feel the magic and spirituality in the air. You’ll have some free time to explore and take photos, before returning to Camp 3 for lunch. Later, you’ll have dinner and spend the night at Camp 2.
DAY 4: CAMP 2 - CAMP 1
On the morning of the fourth day, breakfast will be at 6:30am, before departing at 7:00am to make your way to the camp located close to Mutanshi for lunch. After eating, you’ll then continue along the jungle path to Camp 1 for dinner. You’ll spend the final night of the expedition here.
DAY 5: CAMP 1 - EL MAMEY - SANTA MARTA
You’ll begin your last day with breakfast at the camp, before making your way back by foot to the starting point of your adventure. You’ll pass rivers and waterfalls on the way where you can freshen up. On arrival to Mamey, you can enjoy some well-deserved lunch, before being picked up by the 4x4 and taken back to Santa Marta for around 5:00pm.
Note: The tour is given in Spanish: it is not necessary to have a bilingual guide for this trip, as you will be enchanted with the magic of the Lost City.

Cancellation or changes of this tour:
CHANGES: It is FREE to change the tour date before 4:00 pm (Bogota time) 3 days before the tour begins.
NO SHOWS & CANCELLATIONS: If you cancel before 4:00 pm (Bogota time) 3 days before the tour begins a 10% administration fee will apply. After this time there is a 100% no show or cancellation fee.

The Lost City tour departs daily from the Expotur office, located at Carrera 3 17-27 Building Rex Office 3, Santa Marta.
Do I need any camping equipment?
You do not need to bring any camping equipment with you, the operator will provide you with the equipment.
