We will pick you up from 06:30 to 07:00 am. The tour starts in Salta, but really begins once we arrive in Purmamarca village. Here, there’ll be plenty of time to see the Seven Coloured Hill, the church, and the craft market on the square, as well as go for a small walk along the narrow streets.

We’ll continue towards the town of Tilcara, where we visit the Pucará (ancient ruins), the archaeological museum, and then the town of Huacalera. We’ll cross the Capricorn Tropic, from where the colours of La Pollera del Coya Hill can be seen. Make sure you have your camera ready, as here it’s possible to take amazing photos because of the daylight.

We will visit Uquía and its church, where the paintings of the Arcabuceros Angels are kept (important vestige in the zone of the Cuzqueña School). Our arrival to Humahuaca will be at noon. This town has an important church, as well as an Independence Monument (of an Indian chief), made by the sculptor Soto Avendaño.

After lunch, we will observe - from the route - La Paleta del Pintor (Painter's Palette), the beautiful natural landscape framing the town of Maimara. We continue to San Salvador de Jujuy, where you’ll see the Flag Hall, and the Cathedral, which is characterized by its pulpit carved in wood and gold. Finally, you’ll visit the statues of Lola Mora (a talented Argentinean woman).

At the end of the tour, we’ll return to Salta.

1. What time zone is used in Salta?

   Local time in Salta is GMT -3, the same as on Argentina's mainland.

2. What kind of weather can we find in Quebrada de Humahuaca?

   January is warmest, with an average temperature of 24°C at noon. July is coldest, with an average temperature of -6.2°C at night. Quebrada de Humahuaca has no distinct temperature seasons, the temperature is relatively constant during the year. Temperatures drop sharply at night, and winter has prolonged periods of freezing, with the coldest month most often being July. July is - however - on average the month with most sunshine. Rainfall and other precipitation peaks around January, and the driest month is September.

3. What should I bring to the tour?

   You should bring comfortable clothes, a jacket, and warm layers (afternoons can be cold). Take walking shoes, sunglasses, sunscreen, a hat and an umbrella (for rainy season). Don't forget to bring your camera, a bottle of water, snacks, and extra cash for your personal expenses.

4. I can’t find my accommodation listed in the operator’s pick up locations as I make my booking. What should I select?

   This operator only offers pick-ups from the hotel and hostel accommodation listed, and located in the city centre. They do not provide pick-ups or drop-offs at private residences, Airbnbs, bus terminals etc. Select an alternative close by, and be ready there for pick-up at the time on your booking confirmation.

5. Can I start the tour in Jujuy?

   Yes, you can! There is no problem if your hotel/hostel is in Jujuy, however, your hotel/hostel must be in the centre. You will need to send us an e-mail at the moment of your booking, in order to inform the tour operator. Please note that we only enter Jujuy once during the tour, on our way back you will be dropped at the Jujuy centre (YPF Millenium station).
