Puerto Hondo is a rural area found within the limits of Guayaquil, 40 minutes from the centre of the city. Puerto Hondo has the feel of a small village, and contains a mangrove ecosystem.

The whole excursion takes a total of 3 hours, which includes two hours of free time kayaking in the mangroves, plus a taxi ride to and from Guayaquil.

   Guayaquil is on the level of the sea, located in the Gulf of Guayaquil on Ecuador's Pacific Coast.

2. What kind of weather can we find in Guayaquil?

   The average year-round temperature is 25°C (75°F), with the warmest month being January. The coolest month is July, and March is the wettest month. From January to April it can be hot and humid, but also rainy.

3. What time zone is used in Guayaquil?

   Local time in Guayaquil is GMT -5, the same as on Ecuador's mainland.

4. Should I bring a camera?

   Yes, if it is a waterproof camera. If not, we don’t recommend it.

5. Do I need to know how to kayak?

   No. Most of our clients are first time kayakers, so we provide you with a briefing about how to kayak prior to the excursion.

6. Do I need to know how to swim?

   We always go by the rule “safety first”, so we provide you with life-vest and carry a rescue tube. In this way, you will have buoyancy and will feel comfortable and safe in the water.
